Suicide mortality rate

In 2016, suicide remains the leading cause of death for Australians aged between 15 and 44. The overall age-standardised suicide rate was 11.7 per 100,000 population in Australia.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics, Causes of Death, 2016, reports the preliminary figure for death due to suicide in 2016 at 2,866.
